报告简介:
Climate gentrification refers to the shifting of housing markets and the displacement of vulnerable communities due to climate risks and adaptation measures. This study introduces this emerging phenomenon and examines how residents of at-risk and gentrifying neighbourhoods perceive climate change, and how these perceptions influence their housing decisions. Based on community surveys, we explore the role of residents' lived experiences, local knowledge, socioeconomic conditions, and environmental risks in shaping their relocation choices. The findings reveal that residents’ understanding of climate risks, shaped by personal experiences with floodings and storms, influences their relocation decisions. By investigating grassroots perceptions, the study underscores the need for inclusive urban planning and equitable climate adaptation strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate gentrification.
