Professor Harald Schuh, Academician of German National Academy of Science and Engineering, visited Tongji University

On March 16th, Dr. Harald Schuh, Academician of German National Academy of Science and Engineering and professor at Technical University of Berlin, visited Tongji University for academic exchange.

In the morning, Professor Xiaohua Tong, Vice President of Tongji University and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Professor Harald Schuh, warmly welcoming his visit and presenting him with an honorary professor certificate. After the meeting, Professor Harald Schuh visited Tongji University History Museum and Center for Spatial Information Science and Sustainable Development Applications.

In the afternoon, Professor Harald Schuh delivered a special lecture for faculty and students of College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics, introducing the research history and current status of German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Germany. He interacted warmly with faculty and students. Professor Lei Zhang, Vice Dean of College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics, introduced the historical development and current situation of the college to Professor Harald Schuh. Additionally, professor Harald Schuh engaged in in-depth discussions with teachers in related research directions, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Professor Harald Schuh is a member of German National Academy of Science and Engineering and professor of Satellite Geodesy at Technical University of Berlin. He formerly served as head of the Department of Geodesy at German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) until the end of 2023, as well as president of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and chairman of the German Geodetic Commission (DGK). Currently, he still holds many other positions in German and international associations.
