1. Geodesy and Survey Engineering
Entering the 21st Century, surveying and mapping technology has transited from the traditional analog era to the digital era, and is now entering the information era. Modern geodesy and surveying engineering, characterized by the combination of space positioning technology, computer technology, modern communication technology and traditional ground surveying technology, is undergoing profound changes. Geodesy and Surveying Engineering is developing from the traditional one-dimensional or two-dimensional, small scale, low precision and static measurement, to three-dimensional or four-dimensional, large scale, high precision and dynamic measurement. All these have made the subject more widely and deeply infiltrated into people’s daily life and various fields, such as city information platform, urban regional planning and dynamic monitoring, intelligent traffic management system, environmental changes and monitoring, natural disaster monitoring and defense, national public security emergency information platform, public emergency prevention and rapid response, marine ecological and environmental protection, agricultural accurate operation and informatization, etc..

2. Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing
Making use of digital images acquired by aerial and space remote sensing and close-up photographic images through computer analysis, measurement, processing and interpretation, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing is a subject studying the geometric and physical properties of the target, so as to provide a variety of digital or graphic products for national economy and national defense construction. In recent years, with the development of computer technology and space information technology, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing has developed rapidly at home and abroad and become an important part of the "3S" technology. It is widely used in the fields of space exploration, "digital earth", "digital city", navigation and positioning, environmental monitoring, disaster prediction and evaluation, urban planning and traffic management, engineering design and building deformation monitoring, military engineering, as well as mapping and revision of maps. This subject is an important branch of surveying and mapping science and technology, and also involves many aspects of information science, such as space sensor, digital image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, expert system, computer vision space information system, etc..
