I. Introduction to the Forum
Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Tongji University has a long and distinguished history, beginning with the department of advanced surveying and mapping. established in 1932. Since its establishment, it has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents in the field of surveying, mapping, and geographic information, and has made significant contributions to national construction, social services and economic development. The surveying and mapping discipline is a key discipline under the "211" and "985" projects and a "Double First-Class" construction discipline of the country. It boasts a doctoral degree program and a postdoctoral research station in the first-level discipline of Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology, covering three second-level disciplines: Geodesy and Surveying Engineering, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Cartography and Geographic Information Engineering. The College possesses research platforms and bases such as the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Space Mapping and Remote Sensing for Planetary Exploration, Tongji University Branch Center of Remote Sensing and Navigation, Center of Space Exploration, Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory of Modern Engineering Surveying Ministry of Natural Resources, Tongji University Branch Center, Cooperative Research Center of Crustal Movement Observation Network of China, Ministry of Education, Center of Spatial Information Science and Sustainable Development Applications.
The 10th International Young Scholars Forum of Tongji University (Sub-forum of the College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics) aims at renowned universities and research institutions at home and abroad, inviting young talents with academic backgrounds in surveying and mapping-related fields to conduct discussions and exchanges around international scientific frontiers, hot research areas and technical issues in the industry, with the aim of attracting outstanding young talents from around the world to return to work in China, cultivating a group of outstanding academic backbones who are expected to enter the world's scientific and technological frontiers, accelerating the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines, and contributing to the construction of a powerful country in science and technology. Young scholars in the field of surveying and mapping are welcome to actively sign up to participate. Meanwhile, young talents are also welcome to apply for the Tongji University's permanent faculty system, full-time research, and postdoctoral research teams.
II. Time and Theme of the Forum
This forum will set up a main forum for the university and a sub-forum for the College of Surveying and Geo-Informatics.
